Tatiana Nahorniuk

Originally from Penticton, BC, Tatiana Nahorniak (nee Semenoff) trained passionately in Jazz, Tap and Lyrical, but her heart has always been with Ballet. Although she loved performing, Tatiana has always enjoyed teaching and mentoring and hoped that a career in dance would lead her to do just those things. Discovering the newly introduced ballet program offered by the University of Calgary in 1998, she decided to abandon her current studies in International Relations to continue her post secondary education in dance. Training for four years at the U of C, she graduated as one of five dance majors who focused their training primarily in ballet and with a minor in English. Directly after graduation in 2003, Tatiana began her career as a ballet instructor and worked towards her Royal Academy of Dance Certification completing it in 2005. Throughout her training in Calgary, she has had the privilege of studying under the mentorship of some of Calgary's finest ballet pedagogues: Shirley Agate-Proust, Head of Regular Division at School of Alberta Ballet; Carol Robertson, Artistic Director of Alberta Ballet Arts; and Umran Sumen, Artistic Director and Founder of International School of Ballet. She would like to express her gratitude towards each of them for all the time and support they have graciously offered her throughout her training. Tatiana always looks forward to another ballet season in which she can gain more knowledge and love for the art, all of which she is eager to share with each of her students.
